Sometimes one little product becomes the heart of everything you do.

For us, that product is our Solid Lotion Bar.

When I started Queen of the Meadow in 2007, I wanted to create something specifically for dry Colorado skin—something deeply moisturizing, simple, effective, and made with ingredients I could feel good about.

But there was another thing that mattered to me from the very beginning:

I didn't want the lotion to come in a plastic bottle. And so our Solid Lotion Bar was born.

A family tradition—and a very special ingredient

One of the most important ingredients in our Lotion Bar is beeswax, and for many years we have been fortunate to source it from a family business in Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Once a year, we make the drive to Nebraska and load up about 300 pounds of beeswax—enough to carry us through the year.

It has become much more than a supply trip. We get to see our friends and family, and visit Grandma, and come home with one of the essential ingredients that goes into so many of our products.

We love these kinds of relationships. Knowing where our ingredients come from—and knowing the people behind them—is part of what makes small-batch production so meaningful to us.

What's inside our Lotion Bar?

Our formula is beautifully simple:

Beeswax

Creates a protective barrier on the skin, helping to seal in moisture. Beeswax is also naturally water-resistant, making it especially helpful for protecting hands and skin from the elements.

Sweet Almond Oil

A wonderfully nourishing plant oil rich in fatty acids that helps soften and condition dry skin.

Safflower Oil

A lightweight oil rich in linoleic acid that helps soften the skin without leaving it feeling overly greasy.

Raw Shea Butter

Deeply nourishing and rich in naturally occurring fatty acids and vitamins. Shea butter helps soften dry, rough skin and gives the bar its wonderfully creamy feel.

Calendula CO₂ Extract

Calendula has traditionally been treasured in herbal skincare for its comforting, soothing qualities—especially for dry or sensitive-feeling skin.

Essential Oils

We use carefully selected essential oils to give our Lotion Bars their beautiful natural scents.

Vitamin E

A naturally occurring antioxidant that helps support the skin and also helps protect the oils in our formula from oxidation.|

Together, these ingredients create something wonderfully simple: a solid moisturizer that melts onto your skin as you rub it on.

Our family keeps one on the kitchen counter. Before heading out for the day, we simply pick it up, rub it over our hands, arms, legs, elbows—or anywhere that needs a little extra nourishment—and go.
